It’s been a pretty cold week, but we’re back with another Weekly News Roundup! Lots of drama in the biggest stories this week, be it the Oscars or taking shots at actors and musicians; on the more exciting side of things, there’s a killer co-headlining tour on the horizon!

The 2024 Oscar nominees were released this week, including Oppenheimer, Killers of the Flower Moon, and BarbieOppenheimer came in with a whopping 13 nominations, including Best Picture, Director, and Lead Actor. Barbie, meanwhile, received two nominations in the music category, for “I’m Just Ken” and Billie Eilish’s “What Was I Made For?” Ryan Gosling got a Best Actor nod (and expressed disappointment that Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig weren’t as recognized), but then Oliver Stone claimed guys like Gosling and Keanu Reeves are contributing to the “infantilization of Hollywood.”

In other “they did what?” news, David Lee Roth spoke out about Wolfgang Van Halen, and The Grand Ole Opry issued an apology about Elle King’s embarrassing Dolly Parton tribute. But hey, Pixies and Modest Mouse announced a 2024 tour, reviving their co-headlining venture from last year, so it’s not all drama out there! Cat Power will also be joining them on the late spring trek, and you can get tickets here.
