Ripley (Netflix)

Netflix has dropped the trailer for Ripley, one of the most anticipated TV series of 2024. Watch the clip below, starring Andrew Scott in the titular role.

Ripley is based on Patricia Highsmith’s novel The Talented Mr. Ripley. All eight episodes were written and directed by Steven Zaillian, with the additional cast including Elliot Sumner, Maurizio Lombardi, Margherita Buy, and John Malkovich. The series premieres April 4th on Netflix.

From the trailer’s opening, it’s clear that Tom Ripley has done an impeccable job keeping his identity a secret. “You’re a very hard man to find,” Ripley is told by a man looking for his particular set of skills. “No address. Phone, office.”

The preview continues by offering a glimpse at Johnny Flynn’s Dickie Greenleaf, whom Ripley has been hired to bring home, and Dakota Fanning as Marge Sherwood.

“Tom Ripley, a grifter scraping by in early 1960s New York, is hired by a wealthy man to travel to Italy to try to convince his vagabond son to return home,” reads the official logline. “Tom’s acceptance of the job is the first step into a complex life of deceit, fraud, and murder.”
